This is the Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for N&J Building Services Limited
(“N&J”) for the period 31st of July 2022 – 1st of August 2023 published in compliance with the
Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the ‘Act’) within six months of our year end.
At N&J, we are committed to improving our practices to eradicate the risk of slavery and human
trafficking in our business and supply chain. We will uphold all laws relevant to the Modern Slavery
Act 2015.
Scope
1. Purpose
N&J Building Services is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct,
transparency, and accountability. We encourage employees, contractors, vendors, and other
stakeholders to report any known or suspected violations of laws, regulations, or company policies
and procedures. This Whistle blowing Policy outlines the process for reporting such concerns and
provides protection to individuals who report in good faith.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all employees, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders of N&J Building
Services, regardless of their position or tenure.
3. Reporting Procedures
3.1 Reporting Mechanisms
Employees and other stakeholders are encouraged to report concerns regarding unethical, illegal, or
unsafe conduct through the following channels:
a. Directly to Immediate Supervisor/Manager
b. Human Resources Department
c. Legal Department
d. Compliance Department
3.2 Reporting Content
When reporting a concern, individuals should provide as much detail as possible, including:
a. Description of the issue or concern
b. Names of individuals involved (if known)
c. Date, name, and location of the incident
d. Any supporting evidence or documents
3.3 Non-Retaliation
N&J Building Services strictly prohibits retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good
faith. Retaliation includes but is not limited to, termination, demotion, suspension, harassment, or
any other adverse employment action. Any retaliation will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and
including termination.
4. Investigation Process
All reports will be thoroughly and promptly investigated by N&J Building Services or an external
investigative entity. Investigations will be handled confidentially to the extent possible, and only
those individuals with a legitimate need to know will be informed.
5. Communication of Findings
Upon the conclusion of an investigation, N&J Building Services will communicate the findings and any
corrective actions taken to the reporting individual to the extent permitted by law. However, certain
information may be withheld to protect the privacy of individuals involved.
6. Confidentiality
N&J Building Services will make every reasonable effort to maintain the confidentiality of individuals
reporting concerns and the subjects of the reports, subject to legal requirements and the need to
conduct an effective investigation.
7. False Reports
N&J Building Services takes the reporting of false information seriously. Individuals found to have
made false or malicious reports with the intent to harm others, or the company may be subject to
disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
8. Compliance and Training
N&J Building Services is committed to promoting awareness of this Whistle blowing Policy and
ensuring its consistent implementation. Training and communication regarding the policy will be
provided to all employees and relevant stakeholders.
9. Review and Revision
This Whistle blowing Policy will be reviewed periodically and updated as needed to ensure its
effectiveness and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
By adhering to this Whistle blowing Policy, N&J Building Services aims to create a culture of
accountability, integrity, and transparency, where individuals feel safe and supported in reporting
concerns about ethical, legal, or compliance matters.
10. Company Declaration
This statement has been produced in line with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It describes the steps
taken by N&J against modern slavery. The Managing Director is responsible for this statement and has operational responsibility in relation
to Modern Slavery.
It was formally approved by the Board on Monday the 1st of August 2022
To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our
supply chains and our business, we provide training to our staff. N&J offers a suite of training
modules dedicated to Modern Slavery. These inform staff of what Modern Slavery is, how to
recognise when it might be taking place, and what to do if you suspect Modern Slavery. All staff are
required to complete these modules.
